Each today, well-lived, makes yesterday a dream of happiness and each tomorrow a vision of hope. Look, therefore, to this one day, for it and it alone is life.
~ Sanskrit Poem
About this image: Looking thru my archives I found this Red-bellied Woodpecker - showing his Red Belly. I grew up calling his guy a "Red-headed" woodpecker .... well he does have a red head - but he isn't a Red-headed Woodpecker. If you look closely you can see his tongue too. It was a very dark day when I took this - thru the sliding glass door that leads to my deck with my ISO set on 3200. I am using a Nikon D7000 (see sidebar link) and I can't get over how well it does on a High ISO.

perfectly showing off why he has his name. :)
Great photograph! When we moved here our neighbors talked about how many Red-headed Woodpeckers were around. I had not seen even one. The neighbor was visiting us and told me there was one at our birdfeeder. What she was seeing was a Red-bellied. Since the Red-headed Woodpecker is one of my very favorite birds I was a bit disappointed. But we do enjoy the Red-bellied and love to see them feeding their fledglings on our deck.
Nice shot! I didn't realize they had any red on their bellies. How sweet!
This is a great shot. I've been enjoying these at my feeders too!
Stunning Red Bellied Woodpecker. First time I've seem the red belly.
Timely quote.
I can't even imagine this was taken through glass, and I've never used an iSO that high. The photo has such rich color and detail - amazing!
Your photo is amazing in its detail. i never would have guessed it was taken through glass!
What a great shot! I have several that visit my feeder but have not been able to get their pic yet! Well done.
Goodness! These are gorgeous shots.
Hi Kerri....a great one ...looks like you was outside taken the photo and not through the window!!

...love his little red belly! It's really sharp for that high of an ISO. I've been using a D-7000 lately too. I like it because it has video capabilities. it's doing a great job. I've never tried that high of an ISO, though! I'll have to give it a try.
Spectacular! I thought these were red-headed too until I photographed my first red-bellied. The different types of woodpeckers are fascinating. You took a phenomenal photo here!
This is a gorgeous picture. That one really has a very red belly.
Love the red on this particular woodpecker. Very interesting birds.
Wow, what a beauty and such a good photo too.
You have so many colorful birds! With the cold weather, we are down to the sparrows and a few late purple headed finch. Not much color left here. :(
