About this shot: This was taken on a foggy morning early in September. My sister was visiting and we found this little guy on a morning walk. With little sunshine, I had to shoot this on a high ISO - 1600. I hope he survived and lived up to his potential to become a beautiful Monarch butterfly.

Nice shot -- I've never noticed before -- it looks like there are two heads!
He's probably fluttering around right now! :-))
I'm sure he did :) Beautiful picture!
Such a wonderful photo and a great quote to go with it.
Terrific image! I noticed that the beautiful caterpillar is making quite a meal of that leaf. My fingers are crossed that it is fluttering about some lovely garden.
Beautiful! Very appropriate for me right now too--thanks!
those caterpillars are so cool with the tails that look like heads. the better to confuse predators, i suppose. you can't see any grain in your photo even with the 1600 iso; it looks great.
How beautiful!!
What a great picture, they are even beautiful as caterpillars.
well, even if he didn't make it to butterfly phase, he was still beautiful! :)
He probably headed over to party at the butterfly social after his transformation :)
Great pic!
I have never found a monarch caterpillar to photograph! Maybe NEXT year. :)
They are really pretty amazing little creatures, aren't they?
1600Iso, wow the quality is incredible for that set up... Well done Kerri and the picture is beautiful! I did not know this caterpillar but she is gorgeous!
Hi Kerri, Great shot. The essence of fascination: How something that looks like this can turn into a butterfly. Just another amazing part of nature. Thanks for your blog. John
